عَامَلَهُ مُشَاتَاةً

(S, K) and شِتَاءً (K) [He bargained with him for work by, or for, the season called شِتَاء]; and in like manner, اِسْتَأْجَرَهُ [He hired him, or took him as a hireling]: (TA:) from الشِّتَاءُ [i. e. the subst.]; (S;) like مُرَابَعَةً from الرَّبِيعُ, &c.: (TA in article ربع:) شِتَاءً being here in the accusative case as a verbal noun, not as an adv. n.
