حَالِمٌ

originally signifies ↓ مُحْتَلِمٌ [i. e. Dreaming: and particularly dreaming of copulation: and experiencing an emission of the seminal fluid in dreaming]. (Mgh.)

Hence used in a general sense, (Mgh,) meaning One who has attained to puberty, or virility; (A Heyth, Mgh, Msb, TA;) as also ↓ مُحْتَلِمٌ. (Msb, TA.)
