and مَدْبُغَةٌA place where hides, or skins, are tanned. (T, * Msb, * K, * TA.) [Hence,] one says, هٰذَا البَلَدُ مَدْبَغَةُ الرِّجَالِ (tropical:) [This country is the place where men are tanned by the sun]. (TA.)

Also, the former, Skins put into theدِبَاغ [or tanning-liquor]: (Sgh, K:) or of which the tanning has been commenced: (Az, TA:) as though made a plural, (Sgh, TA,) like مَشْيَخَةٌ as synonym with مَشَايءِخُ. (Sgh, K.)
