غَافِصَةٌ

A sudden, or an unexpected, calamity, of time, or fortune: (Sgh, * K, * TK:) plural غَوَافِصُ. (A.) You say, وَقَاكَ اللّٰهُ غَوَافِصَ الدَّهْرِ [May God preserve thee from the sudden, or unexpected, calamities of time, or fortune]. (A.)
