الهَمْزَةُ صَوْتٌ مَهْتُوتٌ فِى أَقْصَى الحَلْقِ [Hemzeh is a sound uttered (after a suppression of the breath) in the most remote part of the throat]. (Kh, L.) Sb applied the term المَهْتُوتُ to the letter ه, because of its weakness and lowness. (L.)
