هَوَى بِهِ

His ears heard a confused, or humming, or singing, sound. (K.)

هَوَتْ أُمُّهُ is used to express wonder; like as when one says, قَاتَلَهُ اللّٰهُ مَا أَسْمَعَهُ. (IB, in TA, article ام.)
