You say also, وَرَدْتُ الشَّىْءَ الْتِقَاطًا (tropical:) I came upon the thing unexpectedly, or unawares; (S, TA:) and لَقِيتُهُ الْتِقَاطًا (tropical:) I met him unexpectedly: (TA:) التقاطا in this sense being one of those inf. ns. which are used as denotatives of state.
