(and نُوبِىٌّ, TA,) [Very black]: derived from لُوبَةٌ, as signifying “ a tract covered, or strewed, with black stones ”: (K:) or from اللُّوبُ as a synonym of النُّوبُ, meaning [“ the Nubians, ” but see above] “ a certain race, or nation, of the negroes. ” (RA.)
