لِيفٌ

[The membranous fibres that grow at the base of the branches of the palm-tree:] the best sort is the ليف of the cocoa-nut. (TA.) See شَرِيعٌ. لِيفٌ is used by Ibn-Mukbil as meaning (assumed tropical:) A she-camel's tail. (TA in arts. شذب and شمل.)
