مَاءَ

, aor. يَمُوْءُ, inf. n. مَوْءٌ (K, TA: in the CK مُوْءٌ) and مُوءَاءٌ (but see below) or (as in some copies of the K) مُوَاءٌ; (K;) and ↓ أَمْوَأَ; (AA;) It (a cat) mewed: (K:) like مَأَى, (TA,) and أَمَا. (S in art. امو.)

ماءٌ

Water. مَاءُ الظَّهْرِ [The seminal fluid]. (K, voce اِنْبَتَّ.) See Kur, lxxxvi. 6, 7, and see 4 in art. روق. مَاءٌ Lustre [likened to water, and running water,] of the teeth, (IbrD,) &c: see ظَلْمٌ and دَرْزٌ and غَرْبٌ. مَاءٌ The water of a sword: see فِرِنْدٌ and رَوْنَقٌ: also its lustre. سَيْفٌ كَثِيرُ المَاءِ [A sword much diversified with wavy marks or streaks in its grain; as are the swords of Damascus &c.] (TA voce إِبْرِيقٌ.) بَنَاتُ المَاءِ i. q. الغَرَانِيقُ. [storks or cranes]. (L, art. وضر.) See عِرْسٌ. اِبْنُ المَاءِ is (tropical:) A kind of bird; pl. بَنَاتُ المَاءِ; (Mgh in art. بنى:) the aquatic bird; the bird of the water. (Msb in art. بنو.) مَاءُ الشَّبَابِ: see شَبَابٌ. مَاءُ الوَجْهِ: see حَقَنَ and تَشَهَّلَ. مَاءُ الذَّهَبِ Gold-wash for gilding: and مَاءُ الفِضَّةِ Silverwash for silvering: you say, طَلَاهُ بِمَاءِ الذَّهَبِ, and الفِضَّةِ He washed it over with gold, and silver. مَاءٌ is used as a coll. gen. n., of which the n. un. is مَاءَةٌ; and therefore is sometimes made, as a pl., to have a pl. epithet: ex. مَاءٌ عِذَابٌ. (See عَذْبٌ). مَاءَةٌ signifies A water; or some water.

مَايءِيءَةٌ

and مَايءِيَّةٌ and مَايءِيَةٌ [and epithet of] A cat. (K.)

مَوءُوْءٌ

(in some copies of the K, مَوُوْءٌ,) A mewing cat. (K.)

مُوءَاءٌ

, accord. to the K, an inf. n. of مَاءَ; but accord. to the L and other lexicons, The mew of a car; a word expressing the sound of mewing. (TA.)
