مَوْجٌ

, [a coll. gen. n., Waves; billows; surges; or a collection of waves;] water rising above other water: (TA:) plural أَمْوَاجٌ: (S, K, Msb:) مَوْجَةٌ has a more special signification; [namely, a wave, a single wave;] and the plural of this, which is the n. un., is مَوْجَاتٌ. (Msb.)
