نَشَفَ المَاءَ

, aor. نَشِفَ , (Mgh, Msb,) inf. n. نَشْفٌ, (Msb,) He took [or absorbed] the water from the ground, (Mgh, Msb,) or from a pool, (Mgh,) with a piece of rag or some other thing (Mgh, Msb) of a similar kind. (Msb.)

She (a camel) [yielded frothy milk;] had نُشَافَة. (S in art. رغو. [See 2 in that art.])

أَنْشَفَ الأَرْضَ المَاءَ

[It caused the earth to imbibe the water], said of the سَمُوم. (K voce أَضْرَبَ.)

مِنْشَفَةٌ

(pl. مَنَاشِف) A drying-towel; napkin.
