مَنْزِلَةٌ
1.
A space which one traverses in journeying. (TA, article سير.)
2.
مَنْزِلَةٌ, used unrestrictedly, Station, standing, footing, or grade; honourable station or rank; a place of preferment.

A predicament in which one stands.
4.
كَلِمَةٌ بِمَنْزِلَةِ
كَلِمَةٍ أُخْرَى
A word equivalent, or similar, to another word.
5.
[You say] يُسْتَعْمَلُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ كَذَا
It (a word) is used in the manner of such [another word]; generally with respect to government, not necessarily with respect to meaning. (The lexicons passim.)
6.
النَّازِلُ مِنَ
الدِّينِ والدُّنْيَا مَنْزِلَةَ النُّورِ مِنَ العَيْنِ
Who is, in respect to religion and the world, as light to the eye.
