and ↓ قَسَّمَ He divided; parted; divided in parts or shares; distributed. قَسَمَ أَمْرَهُ, or ↓ قَسَّمَهُ: see 3 in art. عدل.

He divided with him the thing, each of them allotting to himself his share, or portion. قَاسَمَهُ بِاللّٰهِ He swore to him by God.

He conjured him; he said بِحَقِّكَ. (Mgh, art. طمر.)

It (a thing) was, or became, divided, or distributed. (MA.) See an ex. in a verse, voce شَتَّانَ.

He sought to know what was allotted to him, by means of the أَزْلَام, (S, * Mgh, and Har, p. 465,) and what was not allotted to him. (Mgh, Har.)

A conjurement. See أَقْسَمَ عَلَيْهِ. An oath (S, Msb, K) by God [&c.]. (Msb, K.) An asseveration. وَاوُ القَسَمِ The و denoting an oath.

A division: (Msb:) and particularly (Msb) a portion, or share. (S, Msb, K.) Pl. أَقْسَامٌ. لَيْسَ مِنْ أَقْساَمِ كَذَا It is not a part of such a thing; it does not belong, or appertain, to such a thing; it is independent of such a thing.

is also used in the sense of مَقْسُومٌ [meaning A thing, or collection of things, divided into portions, or shares]: (Bd and Jel in liv. 28:) a portion, or share; like قِسْمٌ: (Msb:) [and portions, or shares; as in the phrase,] نُخْرِجُ طَرِيقًا مِنْ بَيْنِ قِسْمَةِ الأَرْضِ أَوِ الدَّارِ [We will exclude a way, or passage, from among the portions, or shares, of the land, or the house].
