, (K,) verbal noun مُسَاطَاةٌ, (TA,) He treated him with hardness, severity, or rigour: (K, TA:) so says Az, on the authority of IAar. (TA.)

And He treated him with gentleness, or tenderness. (IAar, T, TA.) Thus it has two contr. significations. (TA.)
