مَسْخَى النَّارِ

The place that is widened [or hollowed], in the fire, beneath the cooking-pot, in order that it may be able to burn up well: and hence, some say, is derived السَخَاءُ meaning الجُودُ; because the bosom becomes expanded on the occasion of giving. (TA.)
