شَمَاسٌ

The disposition, in a horse, of refusing to be ridden, or mounted. (S.)

[And hence,] (assumed tropical:) The disposition, in a woman, of abstaining from looking at men, and from exciting their desire: a subst. from شَمَسَتٌ. (TA.)
