أَشْنَقُ

Long; applied to a neck. (M.) And, as also مَشْنُوقٌ, Long in the head; applied to a horse and to a camel; and so شَنْقَاءُ [the feminine of the former] and شِنَاقٌ applied to the female. (M.) For the feminine, see also شِنَاقٌ.

[The feminine] شَنْقَاءُ signifies [also] A female bird that feeds her young ones with her bill, ejecting the food into their mouths. (O, K.)
