مَذْهَبَةٌ

[A cause, or means, of doing away with, removing, dispelling, or banishing]. Fasting is said, in a tradition, to be مَذْهَبَةٌ لِلْأَشَرِ [i. e. (assumed tropical:) A cause, or means, of dispelling exultation, or excessive exultation, and resting the mind upon things agreeable with natural desire]. (T and S voce مَحْسَمَةٌ, q. v.)
