عَطْسَةٌ

(S, A, O, K) and عُطَاسٌ (Msb, TA) [A sneeze, or a sneezing: or, according to the A and O and K, the latter is a verbal noun: see 1]. It is said, خُلِقَ السِّنَّوْرُ مِنْ عَطْسَةِ الأَسَدِ [The cat was created from the sneeze of the lion]: (A:) [apparently because it resembles the lion in make and disposition: for] one says also, فُلَانٌ عَطْسَةُ فُلَانٍ, meaning Such a one resembles such a one in make and disposition; (A, O, K, TA;) and [in the same sense] they say, كَأَنَّهُ عَطْسَةٌ مِنْ أَنْفِهِ.
