عَيَاءٌ

1.
An incurable disease; (K;) a difficult disease, for which there is no cure; as though it disabled, or baffled, (أَعْيَا,) the physicians. (S.) [Hence,] one says, الدَّاءُ العَيَاءُ الحُمْقُ [The disease for which there is no cure is stupidity]. (TA.)
