غِيرَةٌ

A provision of corn, or wheat, &c., which a man procures for himself; synonym مِيرَةٌ; (S, Msb, K,) as also غِيَارٌ: (TA:) [or the latter is probably synonym with مِيرَةٌ used in the sense of a verbal noun:] plural of the former غِيَرٌ. (Msb.) [See article غور.]

Also A bloodwit; (AA, S, K;) synonym دِيَةٌ: (AA, S: *) and غِوَرٌ is a dialect var. thereof: (TA in article غور:) plural غِيَرٌ: (AA, S, K:) or, as some say, this is a singular, (S, TA,) of the masculine gender; TA;) and the plural is أَغْيَارٌ: (S, TA:) and the دِيَة is said to be termed غِيَرٌ because it is a substitute for retaliation.
