مَهْرٌ

A dowry; a nuptial gift; a gift that is given to, or for, a bride; synonym صَدَاقٌ: (S, A, Msb, K:) plural مُهُورٌ, (K,) or مُهُورَةٌ, like as بُعُولَةٌ is plural of بَعْلٌ, and فُحُولَةٌ of فَحْلٌ. (Msb.) زَوْجٌ مَهْرٍ
A husband from whom a dowry is got: (S, article بهر:) or a husband who has not nobility of race, and who therefore doubles the dowry to make himself desired. (TA, same article) See بَهْرٌ.
