الأُذُنُ مَجَّاجَةٌ وَلِلنَّفْسِ حَمْضَةٌ

(assumed tropical:) The ear is wont to reject instruction, through forgetfulness, while the mind has eager desire to listen thereto, is said in a tradition (TA.) And in another tradition, وَلِلنَّفْسِ حَمْضَةٌ لِلْأُذُنِ مَجَّةٌ [meaning the same]. (TA., article حمض.) [See also حَمْضَةٌ.]
