استتلاهُ الشَّىْءَ

He, or it, invited him to follow the thing. (M, K.)

اِسْتَتْلَيْتُ فُلَانًا I made such a one to follow me. (IAar, T.)

استتلى فُلَانًا also signifies (tropical:) He sought, or demanded, of such a one, the arrow of protection [called تَلَاء, q. v.]. (TA.)
