تَلَاءٌ

A bond, or an obligation, by which one becomes responsible for the safety of another: (S, M, K:) and an arrow upon which the giver writes his name, (M, K, [in the CK, المَتْلِىْ is erroneously put for المُتْلِى,]) and which he gives to a man, who, when he goes to a tribe, and shows it to them, passes unmolested: (M:) and, according to IAmb, responsibility, or suretiship.
