خِمْرَةٌ

A hiding, or concealing, oneself: (IAar, TA:) [or, according to analogy, a mode, or manner, of doing so.]

A mode, manner, or way, of wearing the
خِمَار. (K, * TA.) You say, إِنَّهَا لَحَسَنَةُ الخِمْرَةِ [Verily she has a beautiful mode of wearing the
خمار]. (S.) And hence the saying of 'Omar to Mo'áwiyeh, مَا أَشْبَهَ عَيْنَكَ
بِخِمْرَةِ هِنْدٍ [How like is thine eye to Hind's (when she practises her) mode of wearing the
خمار!]. (TA.) Hence also, (TA,) إِنَّ العَوَانَ لَا
تُعَلَّمُ الخِمْرَةَ [Verily she who has had a husband will not require to be taught the mode of wearing the
خمار]: (S, K, * TA:) a prov., (S, TA,) applied to him who is experienced and knowing: (K:) i. e. the experienced woman is not to be taught how she should act. (TA.)
