تزعّم

i. q. تَكَذَّبَ [q. v.]: (S, K:) [it seems here to mean He spoke falsely; and to be transitive; for] a poet says,

أَيُّهَا الزَّاعِمُ مَا تَزَعَّمَا

[apparently meaning O thou asserter of that which thou hast spoken falsely]. (TA. [This hemistich is there cited as an example of تزعّم as explained in the K; and I find no other explanation of this verb.])
