[Hence,] one says of water, زَلَخَ عَنِ الصَّخْرَةِ (tropical:) [It slipped, or slid down, from the rock]. (A, TA.) And of an arrow, يَزْلَخُ عَلَى وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَمْضِى (tropical:) [It slides along upon the ground; then penetrates]. (A, TA.
