امٌّ

[act. particle n. of 1;] i. q. قَاصِدٌ: [see 1, first sentence:] (TA:) plural إِمَامٌ, like as صِحَابٌّ is plural of صَاحِبٌ, (M, K,) according to some, but others say that this is plural of إِمَامٌ [q. v.; the singular and plural being alike]; (M;) and امُّونَ. (TA.) Hence, in the Qur'an, 5:2, وَلَا امِّينَ الْبَيْتَ الْحَرَامَ [Nor those repairing to the Sacred House]. (TA.)
