استعطى

He asked for a gift; as also ↓ تعطّى. (S, K.) And استعطى النَّاسَ بِكَفِّهِ and فِى كَفِّهِ He sought, demanded, or asked, [a gift] of men or of the people [with his hand and in his hand]. (M, TA.)
