حَاذَاهُ

, (S, Mgh, Msb, K,) verbal noun مُحَاذَاةٌ (Msb, TA) and حَذَاءٌ, (Msb,) He, (Mgh, Msb,) and it, (Mgh,) was, or became, over against, or opposite to, him, or it; (S, Mgh, TA;) faced, or fronted, him, or it; (TA;) synonym ازَاهُ, (Msb, * K,) and قَابَلَهُ; (TA;) as also
حَذَاهُ, aorist يَحْذُو, (Mgh, Msb,) verbal noun حَذْوٌ: (Msb:) [and] the latter, (S,) or each, (Har p. 43,) signifies he sat over against, or opposite to, him, or it. (S, and Har ibid.) رَأْسَهَامِنَ الشَّعَرِ وَلَا يَسْتَرْسِلُ
مَا يَحْذُو means ما يُحَاذِيهِ [i. e. What is against, or opposite to, her head, of the hair, and does not hang down below it]. (Mgh. [See another example in an explanation of اخِرَةٌ.]) One also says, أَتَيْتُ أَرْضًا
بَقْلُهَا عَلَى أَفْوَاهِ غَنَمِهَا
قَدْ حَذَا
I came to a land the herbs of which were opposite to the mouths of its sheep, or goats, not rising beyond them. (Sh, TA.) And بِحِذَاءِ هٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ
تَحَذَّ
Be thou over against, or opposite to, this tree. (TA.)

حَاذَتْهَا, said of a girl, She matched her, namely, another girl; she was, or became, her match, fellow, or equal; synonym تَارَبَتْهَا. (A and TA in article ترب.)

[Hence مُحَاذَاةٌ signifying A conformity, a mutual resemblance, or a correspondence, with regard to sound, of two words occurring near together; like اِزْدِوَاجٌ &c.: see article زوج.]
