احتمى

He protected, defended, or guarded, himself, [or he became protected, &c.,] from a thing. (KL.)

And He (a sick man, K) refrained, forbore, or abstained, (K, KL,) مِنَ
الطَّعَامِ [from food, or the food], (S,) or مِمَّا يَضُرُّهُ [from what would injure him]; (TA;) as also
تحمّى. (K.) احْتِمَايَا occurs at the end of a verse, preserving the original form, [for احْتِمَاءَ,] according to a dialect of certain of the Arabs. (S.)
