He faced, or fronted, or was opposite to or over against, him, or it. (S, * K.) See also

He, or it, corresponded to him, or it.

قَابَلَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ [He opposed himself to him]. (TA, article عرض.) See عَرَضَ لَهُ; and see 4.
