ترأّس عَلَىالقَوْمِ

(tropical:) He became made, or appointed, head, chief, commander, governor, ruler, lord, master, prince, or king, over the people; (S, M, A;) as also عَلَيْهِمْ ↓ ارتأس: (S:) or both signify [like رَأَسَ على القوم,] he was, or became, رَيءِيس [i. e. head, chief, &c.] (K, TA) over the people. (TA.)
