أَرْبَعَةٌ

[Four;] a masculine n. of number; feminine ↓ أَرْبَعٌ. (S, K.) [Respecting a peculiar pronunciation of the people of El-Hijáz, and a case in which اربعة is imperfectly decl., see ثَلَاثَةٌ. See also سِتَّةٌ.]

جَاءَتْ عَيْنَاهُ بِأَرْبَعَةٍ (tropical:) His two eyes shed tears running from their four sides: or it means, according to Z, he came weeping most vehemently. (TA.) [See another example voce ثَمَانِيَةٌ.]

أَرْبَعَةَ عَشَرَ [indecl. in every case, meaning Fourteen,] is pronounced by some of the Arabs أَرْبَعَةَ عْشَرَ: and [the feminine] أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ, thus in the dialect of El-Hijáz [and of most of the Arabs], is pronounced أَرْبَعَ عَشِرَةَ in the dialect of Nejd. (S in article عشر.)
