سَيَّافٌ
1.
An owner, or a possessor, of a
سَيْف [or sword]; (S, M, O, K;) as also
مُسِيفٌ: (M:) plural [or rather coll. gen. n.] of the former سَيَّافَةٌ: (S, M, O, K:) or this last signifies a people, or party, whose
حُصُون [or fortresses] are their
سُيُوف [or sword; i. e. whose only means of defence are their swords]. (Lth, O, K. *)
2.
Also (tropical:) A man who is a frequent shedder of blood; or who sheds much blood. (TA.) [An executioner who slays with the sword.]

And A maker of
سُيُوف [or swords]. (TA.) [And A seller of swords.]
