سِمَةٌ

A brand, or mark or figure made with a hot iron, upon an animal. (K.) And i. q. عَلَامَةٌ [A mark, sign, badge, token, symptom, &c.]. (Msb.) And The عُلْوَان [or title] of a book or writing. (TA in article علو.) See also سِيمَةٌ and سِيمَى in article سوم.
