وَسِْمَةٌ

[now applied to Woad]: i. q. عِظْلِمٌ, with which one tinges or dyes [the hands, &c.]: (S:) a certain plant, with the leaves of which one tinges or dyes [the hands, &c.]; and said to be the عِظْلِم: (Msb:) the leaves of the نِيل [or indigo-plant]: or a plant [of another species (TA)] with the leaves of which one tinges or dyes [the hands, &c.] (K.)
