وَسَمَ الثَّوْبَ

[He marked, or put a mark on, the garment, &c.]; said of a trader, or dealer. (JK in article رقم.)

وَسَمَهُ بِالهِجَاءِ [He branded him, or stigmatized him, with satire]. (TA.) See a hemistich cited voce شَكِىٌّ.

وَسَمَهُ He marked it [in any manner]. (Msb.)

وَسَمَهُ بِالقَوْلِ (tropical:) He stigmatized him, or set a mark upon him whereby he should be known, by something said. (TA in article علظ.)

وَسَمْتُ الكِتَابَ [I put a superscription, or title, to the book, or writing.] (TA in article عنو.)

وَسُمَ, verbal noun وَسَامَةٌ (S, Msb, K) and وَسَامٌ, (S, K,) He (a man, S) was beautiful in face: (S, Msb:) or bore the impress, or stamp, of beauty. (K.)
