عَاهَةٌ
, in which the ا is substituted for ى according to some, and for و according to others, (Msb, * TA,) is originally of the measure فَعَلَةٌ, with fet-h to the ع, (Msb,) and is synonym with
افَةٌ [signifying A bane; such as a disease, pest, or murrain; (tropical:) and a blight, blast, taint, canker, or the like: see 1, in two places]. (S, Msb, K, TA.) It is said in a tradition, لَا يُورِدَنَّ ذُو عَاهَةٍ عَلَي مُصِحٍّ i. e. One whose camels are affected with a bane, such as mange &c., shall not bring them to water immediately after one whose camels are in a healthy, or sound, state. (TA. [See also article صح.]
