Hence, in a tradition, تَتَجَارَى بِهِمُ الأَهْوَاءُ (assumed tropical:) [Natural desires, or blamable inclinations, or erroneous opinions, contend with them for the mastery: or] they vie, or compete, one with another, in natural desires, &c. (TA.)
