One of whom aid, or succour, is asked: (S, O, TA:) and one upon whom reliance, or confidence is placed. (TA.) One says, مَا لَهُ فِى القَوْمِمِنْ مُعَوَّلٍHe has not, among the people, or party, any of whom aid is [to be] asked. (S, O.) [See also عَوْلٌ.]
