دَامَاءُ

(in the CK [erroneously] دَأْماءُ) The sea, or a great river; synonym بَحْرٌ; (M, K;) because of the continuance of its water: (M:) originally دَوَمَاءُ, or دَوْمَاءُ: if the latter, the change of the و into ا is anomalous. (TA.)
