يَا بُشْرَاىَ

, in the Qur'an, 12:19, according to one reading, (otherwise, as Bd mentions, بُشْرَاىْ, or بُشْرَىَّ, which is a dialect var. of the same, or بُشْرَى, which, as some say, was the name of a man,) meaning O my joyful annunciation, or joyful tidings, or good news!], is like عَصَاى: and in the dual you say, يَا بُشْرَيَىَّ. (S.) You say also, تَتَابَعَتِ البِشَارَاتُ and البَشَايءِرُ [The joyful annunciations followed consecutively]. (A.) See another example voce بَشِيرٌ.
